Humidity is the known enemy of straightened hair, the unknown enemy may be you. If you are looking to peserve and maintain your straight hair these tips are sure to help.Have your pressed, silked pressed or silk wrapped hair last by adding these gamechangers to your routine.
1. Â Throw it in a ponytail
If you are working out or doing any strenuous physical activity, putting your hair in a ponytail can help keep your straight hair intact. If you are exercising, be sure to use a sweatband to prevent any excess sweat from causing your hair to revert to its natural state.
2. Avoid humidity like the plagueÂ
It doesn’t take much humidity to ruin a perfect hairstyle! Opting for baths, quicker showers, and plastic shower caps will greatly lengthen the time your hair stays straight. Also, always keep an umbrella and shower cap with you just in case the weather gets a little messy!
3. Wrap it up
It’s important to wrap your hair so you are avoiding sweating it out at night as well as snagging it on your pillowcase. Wrapping your hair is also a great way to preserve your style if you are running errands or just want a break until you are ready to wear your hair down.
4. Easy on the products
A surefire way to end up with curls sooner than you bargained for is by applying too much product to your hair. Keep your products minimal at this time. Now that your hair is straightened the natural oils that your scalp produces will be able to travel the length of your hair much quicker than your natural curls so you won’t need very much product. Opt for light oils and products that are meant for fighting humidity and frizz.
5.Silk Wrap Method
The silk wrap method is a great way to keep your straightened natural hair for a nice amount of time. When your straight hair starts to look a little lackluster simply use this method to restore it and get your hair looking and feeling like you just got it done all over again. The silk wrap method involves wrapping your hair with plastic wrap and sitting under the hairdryer. You can check out all of the steps here.
