Dark spots are a problem that many women of color face. They can be unsightly, undesirable, and even embarrassing. Many women opt to either cover the spots with concealer or foundation, or use harsh bleaching creams that often are still ineffective. Luckily, there are natural remedies that help aid in fading dark spots, here a few just in time for summer!
1. Lemon Juice Toner
Lemon has been known to lighten skin as well as hair for centuries. One effective way to lighten and ultimately remove dark spots is with lemon juice. After you wash your face dab lemon juice from either fresh squeezed lemon or the store bought pure lemon juice, onto your face twice daily. The citrus in the lemon juice is known to lighten and also has antiseptic properties.
2. Exfoliate
If your skin is not properly exfoliated anything you add on top of your skin will only be masking the problem. Exfoliating helps to get rid of the dead skin that is blocking your pores as well as new more radiant skin from underneath the surface. If you have extremely sensitive skin or very thin skin exfoliating should not exceed twice a week. If your skin is thicker and less sensitive exfoliate as needed during the week to help remove dead skin. When your skin is properly exfoliated it feels softer and even has a glow to it. Once the dead skin is removed any method you use to remove the dark spots will be much more effective.
3. Eat Dark Green Leafy Vegetables/Vitamin K
Eating foods rich in vitamin K, such as dark green leafy vegetables, has been known to even the skin tone as well as remove dark spots. Health food and specialty stores also sell vitamin K in an oil form which can be rubbed on the areas of your face with dark spot, another effective oil is vitamin E which can be purchased at many stores in pill form or oil form. Vitamin K and E can both also be taken internally to aid in evening the skin tone.
